This review is from: Sealy Naturalis Crib Mattress with Organic Cotton (Baby Product) We just got this mattress and I'm worried about using it for the baby because it does NOT seem as firm as crib mattresses are supposed to be. It has 150 coils which is supposed to be sufficient but I wish I had looked for more than 200 coils. Also, the fact this mattress' inner materials are "organic" is pointless because it's entirely wrapped in some kind of plastic! And the label doesn't tell you what kind of plastic, at a time when parents want to know what kind of plastic is in their baby's products. If you want a truly organic mattress spring for the expensive Naturepedic one. I was trying to save money when I bought this one thinking I'd found an affordable alternative but I only got what I paid for. I called the manufacturer (Kolcraft, Sealy doesn't even mention crib mattresses on their website)and asked what the horrible, toxic smelling plastic was on the outside of these "organic" mattresses and they said it was vinyl, the exact same vinyl as is on all their other mattresses. What is the point? Don't let your baby sleep on vinyl. I agree with the other reviewer, go for Naturepedic. They offer either food-grade, non-toxic plastic or better yet, organic cotton with or without the waterproof coating. This time around I came across this mattress which has more coils and the ability to flip it for infant/toddler use. Currently our 18 Month old is using the new mattress- on the toddler side- but once her sibling comes along we will be using in the crib on the firmer infant side! I love this purchase. It's well made, perfect for infants and toddlers and is a great price. It also has a 35 year warrenty - which is hard to find on crib mattress's! Def think you should buy it! Taylor - See all my reviews    I just received this mattress and was extremely impressed by the quality. It is thick and soft, yet firm and has a great bounce to it. One can tell right away that this is well made. I feel very confident that my baby will sleep well on this mattress through his toddler years. I highly recommend this mattress to anyone, but especially to those who know and understand the value of a good mattress. Also, it comes with a 25 year warranty and you can register on the company website. I tested many mattresses at Babies R Us and was disgusted at how cheap and cardboard-like they were. Go for it, you won't be disappointed! It did have a strong smell out of the plastic wrapper, as described by others, but it subsided. The mattress is not as firm as I had expected given the number of coils and gauge of steel. It arrived with no documentation at all and without the required mattress cover that is mentioned in the description. It took four separate communications with LA Baby customer service to get them to send it out, but they were courteous and did not give me any trouble. A registration form for the warranty can be downloaded from the LA Baby website. I was committed to sending the mattress right back if it emitted any toxic odors, but it was completely odorless upon opening. So happy I went with this mattress instead of some other eco-friendly varieties that are more expensive and actually less pure. It also fits perfectly in the Graco Dakota crib I bought (another GREAT eco-buy for those on a budget).
